Video Archive 65 – Chico Freeman and I have worked together for many years mixing all kinds of styles from words and music to electronica and jazz. Here’s a track from the Zolace album we worked on with Robert Bond and the sultry vocals of Jennifer Hamady. This track ‘In the Shade’ was based on our song ‘Shaka Zulu’ and the video is a random public domain film entitled Princess Nicotine which I really should have used for our track ‘Miss you like smoking’ .. oh well. Jan Pulsford – Times in My Life

Video Archive 43 – Times in my life. Chico Freeman’s beautiful ‘Ballad for Hakima’ inspired the lyrics to ‘Times in My Life’ which is part of the Sound of You SongBook. We crowd funded the recording on Pledge Music with Estelle Kokot and this is one of the promotional slideshows made for the campaign featuring Chico’s original recording. Estelle and Chico are now preparing to perform at the Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz festival in September to coincide with a South African release of the album. Exciting times …
